According to Public Relations and International Affairs of Qeshm Free Zone, Alireza Amri Kazemi stated: At the same time as studying the proposed geopark of Russia, during his trip to Russia, along with Professor Arthurzas from Portugal, as representatives of the UNESCO World Geoparks, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation of Qeshm Geopark, and the proposed Geopark of Russia.
He added that the results of the surveys and visits from the proposed Yangan Tao geopark of Russia, are completely confidential, Which was sent to the UNESCO High Council for the purpose of deciding, for rejection, acceptance, or suspension.
The director of global Geopark of Qeshm, in the following, referred to the natural and cultural potential of proposed Yangan Tao geopark of Russia, and added: Yangan Tao is part of autonomous Muslim region of the Russian's Bashkortostan, Having a Turkish language, and nomadic life, have a lot of cultural similarities with the nomads of our country.
According to him, the exchange of experiences and information from the parties, joint cooperation for the development of geoparks, promotion of each of the geoparks in the opposite Geopark, and the dispatch of experts and researchers to each other's geoparks are the main items of the memorandum.
Amri Kazemi stated: The memorandum, signed by Qeshm Global Geopark Director, on behalf of the Qeshm Free Zone Organization's Cultural, Social and Tourism Delegation, and Dr. Alfred, Russia's proposed Yangan Tao Geopark Director.
He stated that one of the tasks and plans of the global geoparks, is the enhancement of international communication, and cooperation in the development of new geoparks, and mentioned the signing of the memorandum as an opportunity to exchange bilateral cooperation.
A member of the official UNESCO geoparks assessors team, on how the stages of globalization of geoparks, said: Two UNESCO assessors, on a trip to the targeted areas, provide field reports, and scientific studies of each geopark proposed and ready for global registration, to members of the UNESCO World Geoparks Council, To decide, in a two-year process, to reject, accept, or suspend any file.
It is worth noting: Currently, the two proposed geoparks of Iran, in the free zones of Aras and Tabas, go through the stages of preparation for global registration.
Aras's proposed Geopark case was supposed to be sent to UNESCO this year, however, it has been delayed due to the cessation of the operation. And the proposed Geopark case of Tabas will go to UNESCO next year.
